Pet Import Permit

To bring any Pets into South Africa a Pet import permit is needed. Import Permits are always valid for a certain period and thereafter a new permit will be needed.

Every Import Permit will only be valid for that one consignment.

Every Importer must always comply with the conditions of the Import permit at all times!

Facts of a Pet Import Permit

 - Every Dog & Cat to be imported into South Africa must have a valid Import Permit

 - Cats must have a valid Import Permit upon arriving in South Africa. If this is not the case, the Pet will be kept in Quarantine until the necessary permit is presented.

 - Dogs must have at all times a valid Rabies vaccination. The Rabies Vaccine must be older than 30 days and not over 12 Month at the time of Import.

 - From certain countries the Rabies Vaccine is not always needed but we advise that your Pet has the Rabies vaccine done anyways for your own piece of mind as well.

 - Small puppies under 3 Months do not need a Rabies vaccination. These puppies may travel on their Mothers Vaccine card given that the Mother has been Vaccined against Rabies not more than 12 Months and not less than 1 Month upon arrival into    South Africa

 - Certain Pets will receive 14 days Quarantine. Best to check with our agent on your breed.
